Officials in Borno State have disclosed that repentant terrorists are required to swear an oath with the Quran before being reintegrated into society.

According to state authorities, the process is part of efforts to ensure former fighters renounce violence and commit to peaceful coexistence after undergoing rehabilitation programmes.

The government said the reintegration initiative includes deradicalisation, counselling, vocational training, and community engagement aimed at helping ex-combatants rebuild their lives.

Officials also maintained that security agencies continue to monitor the programme closely to prevent any return to extremist activities.

The policy has generated mixed reactions among Nigerians, with some supporting rehabilitation efforts while others express concerns about security and accountability.
