UNIBEN Unveils N100bn Development Fund to Boost Infrastructure, Research
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has launched a N100 billion Trust Development Fund aimed at transforming the institution’s infrastructure, strengthening research capacity and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
The initiative is designed to mobilise financial support from alumni, corporate organisations, philanthropists and development partners to accelerate the university’s long-term growth and improve its academic environment.
Speaking at the unveiling, the university’s management said the fund would be used to modernise critical infrastructure, expand research facilities, equip laboratories, improve lecture halls and support innovation-driven projects across various faculties.
According to the institution, the Trust Development Fund also seeks to promote world-class research, attract strategic partnerships and create an enabling environment for students and lecturers to excel in teaching, learning and scientific discovery.
UNIBEN noted that investment in education and research remains essential to national development, stressing that the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates and advancing knowledge through innovation.
The management called on alumni, private sector organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative, describing the fund as a collective effort to secure the future of one of Nigeria’s leading universities.
The launch of the N100 billion Trust Development Fund marks a significant milestone in UNIBEN’s drive to strengthen its academic excellence, improve infrastructure and position the institution as a leading centre for research and innovation in Africa.
