Due to the aftermath from the PDP’s presidential primaries and Atiku Abubakar’s failure to select the governor of Rivers as his running mate for the general elections in 2023, there are rumors that Wike may leave the party. Obi’s visit comes at a time when these rumors are rampant.
In order to appease Wike and win his support for the party’s bid to unseat the All Progressives Congress at the national level, Atiku had also established a reconciliation committee.
Wike’s media assistant, Kelvin Ebiri, informed our correspondent that the meeting was “private” when he was reached.
Attempts to get in touch with one of the LP presidential candidate’s media aides for remarks were unsuccessful because he did not return calls placed to him.
To lure Wike to his party and ask for his support in his bid to become the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, a source suggested that Obi may be capitalizing on the consequences (rted).
Remember that Wike declared he would back whoever won and that he would stay in the Party while speaking at the PDP convention.
