WHY OBESERE SHUNNED K1’S UNUSUAL CONCERT
2 min readAs reported few weeks ago in some quarters of the media, Fuji musician, Alh. Qudus Abass Akande popularly known as Obesere was conspicuously absent at K1 De Ultimate’s Unusual Concert held penultimate Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, thus fueling the alleged smoldering rift between the two heavyweight Fuji musicians.
According to findings, Obesere absence was deliberate as we learnt he was somewhere in the country on the day of the event.
Those who are in the know reported that Obesere boycotted the concert based on an unprofessional act allegedly displayed by K1 De Ultimate while organizing the event. K1 was said to have included Obesere’s name in the concert without his consent. “No former letter was sent to him nor did anyone contact him in connection to the event; we only saw billboards. Obesere is a big artiste. No one should take him for granted. He can never go where he is not invited,” said a source close to the artiste.
Prior to the event, K1 De Ultimate was said to have fired a missile at Obesere which could have also culminated to his absence. In an interview K1 granted a Lagos based magazine he claimed that he’s the authentic paramount Fuji King, hereby nullifying the title which many knew is owned by Obesere. He also emphasized in the interview that ‘Osupa and Obesere should respect him because he started music before them as has spent 43 years as a musician. He went as far as calling them his “boys,” and this was said to have triggered the ire of the affected artistes.
