NO FEE HIKE UNDER KING’S COLLEGE CONCESSION — FG

The Federal Government has assured parents and students that there will be no increase in school fees under the proposed concession arrangement for King’s College, Lagos.
The assurance comes amid concerns over plans to introduce a new management structure for the prestigious federal secondary school, with the institution’s old boys’ association reportedly involved in the proposed arrangement.
The government said the concession would not result in additional financial burdens on parents or lead to the commercialisation of the school.
Officials explained that the proposed arrangement is intended to improve the management and infrastructure of the institution while preserving its status as a federal government-owned school.
The government also emphasised that the welfare and interests of students would remain a priority under any new management arrangement.
Parents and other stakeholders had raised concerns about the possible impact of the concession on fees and access to education at the school.
The Federal Government, however, maintained that the proposed arrangement would be implemented with appropriate safeguards to ensure that students continue to receive quality education without an increase in school fees.
