LIRS BOSS, TUNDE FOWLER IN GREAT DILEMMA
2 min readThe boss of the money-spinning Lagos Inland Revenue Service, Tunde Fowler, is over the moon as you read. Over the past few days, especially as President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure is nearing its twilight, there have been permutations and conjectures about who should head FIRS and what criteria such person should come with.
Coincidently, fowler who attends the same Redeemed church with the Vice President-elect, Prof Yemi Osibajo, has been telling whoever cares to listen that the job at FIRS, is his for the taking. And even his friends and associates have also reassured him that he’s the best for the job.
But, however, if there is anything that stands in his way to achieving this dream then it’s Fowler himself. If his moral suitability is to be considered, then it may be a very top job for him to achieve.
Fowler’s penchant for flamboyant lifestyle and profligacy is second to none. The wedding tale of his daughter, Funke, in Dubai, is a testament to this as Fowler would spare no cost to satisfy his cravings.
Going by the lavishness of the wedding, Gov Fashola was said to be furious with him and it only took the timely intervention of former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu to salvage fowler’s job. And now, that a more disciplinarian is now the president, Fowler’s unquenchable love for extravagance may surely pitch him against his dream job.
To show for his love for luxury, the MBA holder from California University boasts of an expensive house in Lagos, a ritzy boat and choice cars
