Washington / Middle East — U.S. President Donald Trump has postponed a previously indicated deadline for possible military strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure, signaling a shift toward diplomacy as tensions remain high in the region.

Speaking on the development, Trump said negotiations aimed at ending the conflict were “going very well,” suggesting that progress in talks could reduce the likelihood of immediate military action against Iran.

The move comes as Israel confirmed launching fresh airstrikes on the Iranian capital, Tehran, early Friday. Israeli authorities indicated the strikes targeted strategic locations, though full details on the impact remain unclear.

Iran’s energy sector, a critical component of its economy, has been viewed as a potential target in any escalation involving the United States. However, the delay in action suggests Washington may be prioritizing diplomatic engagement while maintaining pressure.

Security analysts say the decision reflects a calculated approach—keeping military options open while allowing negotiations a chance to succeed. They warn, however, that the situation remains volatile, with the risk of wider regional escalation still present.

The international community continues to monitor developments closely as both diplomatic and military activities unfold across the Middle East.
