Israeli Veterinarians Issue Wartime Safety Guide for Pets

Veterinarians in Israel have released a wartime safety guide to help pet owners protect their animals during missile alerts and emergency situations.

The advisory, issued by members of the Israel Veterinary Medical Association, provides practical steps for ensuring the safety and well-being of pets such as dogs and cats during periods of conflict.

According to the veterinarians, pet owners should prepare emergency kits containing food, water, medical supplies, identification tags, and carriers to enable quick evacuation if necessary. They also advised residents to ensure that pets are kept close and are familiar with shelters or safe rooms.

The experts stressed that loud sirens and explosions can cause anxiety and panic among animals. To reduce stress, they recommended keeping pets in calm environments, using comforting items such as familiar blankets or toys, and maintaining close contact with the animals during alerts.

Pet owners were also urged to ensure their animals are properly identified through collars, tags, or microchips in case they become separated during emergencies.

The guide comes as authorities and emergency responders in Israel continue to advise residents on safety measures amid ongoing security concerns.

Veterinarians said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that during crises, families are able to safeguard not only themselves but also the animals under their care. 🐶🐱
