N1bn Fraud: Lamido, Sons to Be Re-Arraigned April 1
Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, alongside his sons, is set to be re-arraigned on April 1 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N1.35 billion money laundering case.
The re-arraignment will take place before a Federal High Court in Abuja, where the anti-graft agency is expected to present charges bordering on alleged financial misconduct.
According to the EFCC, the case involves accusations that the former governor and his sons were linked to the unlawful handling of public funds during his tenure in office.
The matter had previously faced delays due to legal procedures, prompting the court to fix a new date for the defendants to take their plea on the charges.
Lamido and his sons have maintained their innocence, while the EFCC insists it is prepared to pursue the case in accordance with the law.
The court is expected to continue hearing the matter after the defendants are formally re-arraigned on April 1.
