Military Repels ISWAP Attack in Yobe, Kills 20 Insurgents

Troops of the Nigerian military under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled an attack by suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Yobe State, killing more than 20 insurgents.

Security sources said the terrorists attempted to launch an assault on troops stationed in Goniri, but were met with strong resistance from the military during a fierce gun battle.

The troops reportedly overpowered the attackers after intense fighting, forcing the insurgents to retreat with heavy casualties.

Following the operation, soldiers recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing militants.

Military authorities said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace across the North-East region.

Operation HADIN KAI has continued to intensify offensive operations against insurgent groups operating in Borno, Yobe, and surrounding areas.
