US President Acknowledges Nigeria’s First Lady as Respected Woman
United States President, Donald Trump, has acknowledged Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as a “very respected woman.”
Trump made the remark on Thursday while delivering his address at the 74th Annual National Prayer Breakfast held on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. The event was attended by political leaders, diplomats, faith leaders and guests from different parts of the world.
While recognizing dignitaries present at the gathering, the US president made special reference to Nigeria’s First Lady, noting her presence and commending her reputation and contributions. His acknowledgment drew attention to the growing engagement between Nigeria and the United States at diplomatic and people-to-people levels.
The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual, non-partisan event that brings together leaders to reflect on faith, leadership, and national unity. It has historically served as a platform for fostering dialogue and strengthening relationships among nations.
Oluremi Tinubu, a former senator representing Lagos Central, has been actively involved in advocacy for women, children and social development initiatives in Nigeria. As First Lady, she continues to champion causes focused on education, health, and the welfare of vulnerable groups.
Trump’s recognition of the Nigerian First Lady was seen by observers as a gesture of goodwill and mutual respect between both countries, reinforcing longstanding diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the United States.
