We’re Comfortably In An Early Lead – APC Boasts Over Edo Governorship Election
1 min readThe All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence in its early lead in the Edo State governorship election, dismissing reports of bogus vote tallies circulating on social media.
In a statement by its spokesman, Felix Morka, the party said: “We urge the Edo state electorate and the general public to disregard these bogus and highly speculative reports. Our great Party is comfortably in an early lead; however, as a responsible Party, we will not attempt to preempt INEC’s conclusion of the election process and official declaration of final results.”

Morka emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the sole authorized body empowered to collate results and declare the winner. He added that the party will await INEC’s final verdict on the election.
The APC’s statement comes amidst reports of tension and security concerns in the state, with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleging that the APC is pressuring the military to withdraw from collation centers and pushing INEC to cancel the election.
The governorship election is between three major candidates – Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, Monday Okpebholo of the APC, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP).
