1 min read

The people of the Southwest, according to Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ondo State, will not allow any unprovoked attack on the region under whatever pretext.

While describing the Owo tragedy as “one too many,” Akeredolu emphasized that the people of the Southwest have always strived to ensure the country’s peace and unity.

The governor made the remarks while receiving his brother governors from Ogun, Dapo Abiodun; Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; and Kwara, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, at Government House, Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.

The governors were in the state to pay a condolence visit to Akeredolu in the aftermath of the June 5, 2022 terror incident at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo.

According to Akeredolu, the governors’ visit was not only symbolic but also significant, and he thanked his colleagues for their assistance during the process.

On behalf of the Governors of Lagos and Kwara States, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, remarked earlier that the attack was not only on the good people of Owo and Ondo States, but on the entire people of the South-West.

The zone’s security architecture will be progressively consolidated and improved by the governors.
