Sowore Faults MTN CEO’s ‘No Unlimited Data’ Claim, Hints at Protest

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has criticized comments attributed to the Chief Executive Officer of MTN regarding the availability of unlimited data services, describing the position as unacceptable to many Nigerian consumers.
Sowore argued that Nigerians deserve affordable, reliable, and accessible telecommunications services, especially at a time when internet connectivity has become essential for education, business, communication, and economic growth.
Reacting to the claim that unlimited data does not exist, he maintained that telecom operators should focus on improving service quality and expanding consumer-friendly offerings rather than limiting options available to subscribers.
The activist also hinted at the possibility of public protests, stressing the need for greater accountability and consumer protection within the telecommunications sector.
According to him, rising data costs and concerns over service quality have placed additional burdens on millions of Nigerians who depend on internet access for their daily activities.
The remarks have sparked discussions among subscribers and industry observers, with many calling for policies that encourage competition, improve service delivery, and make digital access more affordable.
As reactions continue to trail the controversy, attention is turning to how telecom operators and regulators will address growing public concerns over data pricing and internet accessibility in Nigeria.
