N80.2bn Fraud Trial: Witness Details Cash Payments in Yahaya Bello Case
In the ongoing N80.2 billion fraud trial, a witness has told the court how large sums of cash were allegedly paid for a Maitama property on the instructions of Ali Bello, linked to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
The witness testified that millions of naira were delivered in cash transactions connected to the property purchase, raising fresh questions about the source and handling of the funds.
The case, being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, centres on allegations of large-scale financial misappropriation and money laundering involving public funds.
The defence, however, has continued to challenge the credibility of the claims, insisting that the transactions are being misrepresented.
The court adjourned the matter for continuation of hearing as more witnesses are expected to testify.
