Abia Varsity VC Tasks New Veterinary Doctors on Food Safety, Public Health
The Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) has charged newly inducted veterinary doctors to uphold professional ethics and prioritize food safety and public health.
Speaking at the induction ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor urged the 48 graduates to remain committed to high standards in veterinary practice, emphasizing their critical role in safeguarding the food chain and preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases.
He noted that veterinary professionals are key to ensuring the safety of animal products consumed by the public and called on them to contribute meaningfully to national development through responsible practice.
The VC also encouraged the new doctors to continue learning and adapting to global best practices in veterinary medicine, while maintaining integrity in their careers.
The event marked the formal entry of the graduates into the veterinary profession, with stakeholders highlighting the importance of their role in promoting public health and food security in Nigeria.
