MTN Profit Hits N355.5bn Amid Diesel Cost Concerns

MTN Nigeria has reported a profit of N355.5 billion, marking a significant 165.9 percent increase compared to the previous period.

The telecom giant attributed the strong performance to growth in data services, increased subscriber base, and improved operational efficiency. However, the company raised concerns over rising diesel costs, warning that it could negatively impact future earnings.

MTN noted that the high cost of diesel, which powers a large number of its base stations across Nigeria, continues to put pressure on operating expenses.

Despite the impressive financial results, the company said sustaining profitability may be challenging if energy costs remain volatile.

Industry analysts say the development highlights the broader challenges faced by telecom operators in Nigeria, where infrastructure limitations and reliance on alternative power sources drive up costs.

MTN reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining service quality while exploring cost-saving measures to mitigate the impact of rising energy expenses.
