Kogi PDP Grants Automatic Ticket to Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for 2027 Senate Race
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has ratified an automatic ticket for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan ahead of the 2027 general elections, endorsing her as the party’s candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District.
The decision, announced by party leaders in the state, follows what they described as the senator’s “outstanding performance” and effective representation since assuming office. Party officials said the move was aimed at rewarding loyalty, consolidating party unity, and sustaining development efforts in the district.
According to PDP stakeholders, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s track record in legislative advocacy, constituency projects, and grassroots engagement played a key role in securing the endorsement. They noted that her visibility and responsiveness to constituents have strengthened the party’s position in Kogi Central.
“This is a recognition of hard work and a strategic step to maintain continuity,” a party official said, adding that the automatic ticket would also allow the party to focus early on broader campaign preparations for 2027.
In her reaction, Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed gratitude to the party leadership and supporters across the district, pledging to build on her achievements if re-elected. She reaffirmed her commitment to delivering more developmental projects and amplifying the voices of her constituents at the national level.
Political observers say the endorsement could shape early alignments ahead of the 2027 elections, potentially discouraging internal contests within the PDP in Kogi Central while setting the stage for a competitive race against opposition parties.
The PDP in Kogi State has in recent months emphasized unity and strategic planning as it seeks to strengthen its foothold in the state’s political landscape.
