INEC Fixes June 20 for By-Elections in Six States
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced June 20, 2026, as the date for by-elections in six states to fill vacant seats in the National and State Assemblies.
According to the commission, the polls will be conducted alongside the Ekiti State Governorship Election, a move aimed at optimizing logistics and reducing the cost of election management. INEC said the affected constituencies cut across different geopolitical zones, though specific details of the vacancies are expected to be published in the official timetable and schedule of activities.
INEC officials noted that preparations are already underway, including the deployment of personnel, materials, and security coordination to ensure a smooth process.
