Gani Adams Mobilises Yoruba Monarchs Against Rising Insecurity
Ibadan – The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has called on traditional rulers across the South-West to unite and take a more active role in addressing the growing security challenges facing the region.
Speaking through the Yoruba One Voice (YOV) Worldwide platform, Adams expressed concern over the increasing cases of kidnapping, armed attacks, and other criminal activities in parts of Yorubaland, urging monarchs to work closely with security agencies and community leaders to restore peace and safety.
According to him, traditional institutions remain critical stakeholders in maintaining security at the grassroots level due to their close relationship with local communities and their understanding of the unique challenges facing their domains.
Adams stressed the need for greater collaboration among Yoruba monarchs, community vigilante groups, and government agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve rapid responses to security threats.
He noted that insecurity has continued to pose serious risks to economic development, agriculture, and the overall well-being of residents, warning that urgent action is required to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
The Yoruba One Voice Worldwide leader also encouraged community members to remain vigilant and provide useful information to security operatives to aid crime prevention and investigation efforts.
Traditional rulers who participated in the discussions reportedly pledged their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property across the region.
Stakeholders at the meeting emphasized that a united approach involving traditional institutions, governments, and security agencies is essential to tackling the security challenges confronting Yorubaland and ensuring lasting peace in the region.
The renewed call comes amid increasing concerns over security in several South-West communities, with residents and leaders urging stronger measures to protect lives, property, and economic activities.
