Former President Jonathan Loses Sister

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan, has passed away at the age of seventy on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The announcement, confirming her death after a brief illness, was made by Jonathan’s media office, recognizing her as a retired teacher and businesswoman.

 

Affectionately known as Amissi, Madam Jonathan was celebrated for her dedication to God and service to humanity.

A devout Christian, she was praised for her virtuous character and recognized as a model of integrity within and beyond her community, impacting those around her positively.

 

The former president’s office also outlined the funeral arrangements, scheduling the burial for Madam Jonathan on Tuesday, February 16, 2024. The family will release the full details of the funeral rites in due course.

Madam Obebhatein Jonathan is survived by three children, siblings, including Former President Goodluck Jonathan, and her mother, Mama Eunice Afeni-Jonathan.
