Fizdale Drills D’Tigers Ahead of 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

Nigeria’s men’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, has intensified preparations for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers under the guidance of newly appointed head coach, David Fizdale.

Fizdale has begun leading intensive training sessions aimed at improving the team’s fitness, discipline and tactical awareness as Nigeria seeks to secure qualification for the global tournament.

The qualifiers present a crucial challenge for D’Tigers, who have been drawn against Tunisia, Guinea and Rwanda in a highly competitive group. The coaching crew is expected to blend experienced players with emerging talents to build a balanced squad capable of competing at the highest level.

Speaking during the training camp, Fizdale stressed the importance of teamwork, commitment and consistency, expressing confidence in the quality of Nigerian basketball players and the team’s ability to compete with Africa’s best.

Officials of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) also expressed optimism that the team’s renewed approach and technical direction will strengthen Nigeria’s chances of returning to the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
