CAN DISOWNS ARCHBISHOP, REAFFIRMS POLITICAL NEUTRALITY
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has distanced itself from Archbishop Chivir Chianson and disowned any group claiming to mobilise support for a particular candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The association said it does not endorse political candidates or authorise individuals to speak on its behalf in support of any politician.
CAN reaffirmed its position as a religious body committed to maintaining political neutrality, stressing that its members remain free to exercise their constitutional right to vote according to their convictions.
The development comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with religious and community leaders facing calls to clarify their positions on political endorsements.
