AMBODE, FASHOLA IN COLD WAR
2 min readUnknown to many people, there is an ongoing cold war between the immediate governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola and the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. Before now, the two heavyweights were known to be good friends having being installed by same god father. During the latter’s campaign, Fashola was highly instrumental as he moved from one axis of Lagos to do other calling on Lagosians to cast their votes for the then governorship aspirant. With that effort amongst other forces, Ambode eventually became the governor.
However, since Akinwunmi Ambode assumed office as the executive governor of the state, he’s allegedly become a torn in the flesh of his predecessor, Fashola.
Since assuming office, he has tampered with some of the policies of his predecessor and only recently, he announced the dissolution of heads of boards, agencies and parastatals, a move that seriously affected some of the loyalists of Fashola in which the latter’s sister, Yinka Fashola was affected.
Yinka Fashola was the head of Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA). Gbenga Akintola who is also said to be another loyalist of Fashola was also a victim of Governor Ambode’s sledge hammer. Akintola before his sack was the chairman of Lagos State Public Works Bureau.
Meanwhile, sources close to the former Governor have hinted that Fashola is embittered by the actions of his successor and has only kept mute in order to give peace a chance, but has urged those close to the governor to call him to order.
