AFCON 2023 Final: Two Super Eagles To Make History Against Ivory Coast

1 min read

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, is eyeing history when they face Ivory Coast in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

If Nigeria defeat the hosts, Musa and Kenneth Omeruo, will be the only two players in the country’s history to win the title twice.

Both players won it in 2013 under the late Stephen Keshi.

Musa, speaking ahead of the game, said: “If we win the AFCON on Sunday, it will be a big moment in my life, because I and Omeruo will become the only #Nigerians to have won it twice, as players.”

The likes of Austine Jay Jay Okocha, Finidi George, Mutiu Adepoju, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Amuneke, Sunday Oliseh and Victor Ikpeba all came close to achieving the feat on home soil in 2000 but their hopes was dented by perennial rivals, Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
