WIKE EXPLAINS WHY AMAECHI MAY STRUGGLE TO WIN SOUTH-SOUTH FOR ADC
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has questioned former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s ability to secure support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the South-South ahead of the 2027 general election.
Wike’s remarks come amid growing political activities as parties and their leaders position themselves for the next electoral contest.
The FCT minister has been involved in political exchanges with opposition figures, including those seeking to build support for the ADC in the region.
The South-South remains an important political region, with Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states forming part of its electoral landscape.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, remains a prominent political figure whose role in the opposition has attracted attention.
Wike’s comments reflect his assessment of Amaechi’s political influence in the region. The actual level of support for any party or candidate will depend on voter preferences and developments ahead of the election.
