EFCC Arraigns Firm Over Illegal Rebroadcast of Multichoice Content
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Metro Digital Limited over the alleged illegal rebroadcast of content belonging to MultiChoice Nigeria.
The company was charged before a court on allegations of cybercrime, including the unauthorized transmission of premium television content without proper licensing. Prosecutors said the actions led to significant financial losses for MultiChoice.
According to the EFCC, the firm is accused of using digital platforms to illegally stream and redistribute copyrighted materials to subscribers, in violation of intellectual property and cybercrime laws.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court subsequently granted bail under certain conditions and adjourned the case for further hearing.
The EFCC reiterated its commitment to tackling digital piracy and protecting intellectual property rights in Nigeria’s growing media and entertainment sector.
