Champions League ‘Not the Same’ Without Man United — Cunha

Matheus Cunha has said that the absence of Manchester United from the UEFA Champions League diminishes the prestige of Europe’s top tournament, insisting the club belongs among the elite.

Speaking in a recent interview, Cunha подчеркed the historical weight and global appeal United bring to the competition, noting that their legacy makes them an essential part of the Champions League experience.

“The Champions League isn’t quite the same without Manchester United,” Cunha said. “It’s a club with incredible history, massive fan base, and they should always be competing at that level.”

United, who have struggled for consistency in recent seasons, are currently working to re-establish themselves among Europe’s top sides. Their absence from the latter stages—and at times the competition entirely—has been widely discussed among players and pundits alike.

Cunha’s remarks echo a broader sentiment within football that clubs with deep European pedigree play a key role in maintaining the tournament’s global appeal. Manchester United have won the Champions League three times, most recently in 2008, and remain one of the most recognized names in world football.

As the race for qualification intensifies, pressure continues to mount on the English giants to secure their return to Europe’s biggest stage—where many believe they rightfully belong.
