NDLEA Destroys 51 Hectares of Cannabis, Arrests 281 Suspects in Ekiti
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ekiti State Command, says it has destroyed more than 51 hectares of cannabis plantations and arrested 281 suspected drug offenders as part of its intensified campaign against illicit drug cultivation, trafficking, and abuse.
The State Commander disclosed that the achievements were recorded over the past year through sustained intelligence-led operations carried out across various parts of the state.
According to the agency, large quantities of cannabis and other illicit substances were seized during raids, while the destruction of illegal plantations dealt a significant blow to drug cultivation networks operating in the state.
The NDLEA noted that several of the suspects are currently facing prosecution, while others are undergoing investigation in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Beyond enforcement, the command said it has continued to strengthen public awareness campaigns, engaging schools, communities, religious institutions, and youth groups on the dangers of drug abuse and the need to embrace healthy lifestyles.
