INEC Publishes Candidates’ Particulars for Osun Governorship Election
Osogbo, Osun State — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the personal particulars of governorship candidates and their running mates representing 14 political parties ahead of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
INEC said the publication, carried out in accordance with electoral guidelines, allows members of the public to scrutinise the credentials, qualifications, and other submitted documents of the candidates. The commission emphasised that the move is aimed at promoting transparency and ensuring compliance with constitutional requirements.
According to the electoral body, the candidates’ details — including academic records, affidavits, and other relevant documents — have been displayed at its state and local government offices across Osun State. This step enables interested parties and citizens to raise objections or file complaints where necessary within the stipulated timeframe.
INEC officials reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting a credible and fair election, urging political stakeholders to adhere strictly to electoral regulations and timelines.
The Osun governorship race is expected to draw significant political interest, with major parties and smaller contenders positioning for the state’s top executive seat. Political observers note that the release of candidates’ particulars marks a critical phase in the election process, formally opening the window for public verification and legal challenges if any discrepancies are identified.
The commission encouraged voters to remain engaged and to verify election-related information through official channels as preparations continue for the poll.
