Borno ADC Chairman Apologises Over Rejection of Party Committees
Maiduguri, Nigeria — The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Borno State, Umar Bolori, has apologised for previously rejecting the party’s transitional and registration committees, describing his actions as an “error.”
Bolori’s apology follows internal disagreements within the party’s state chapter over the legitimacy and role of the committees, which were established as part of the ADC’s organisational restructuring and membership registration efforts. His earlier stance had reportedly generated tensions among party stakeholders and members.
In a statement addressing the development, Bolori acknowledged that his decision to oppose the committees was misguided and expressed regret for any disruption it may have caused within the party. He emphasised his commitment to party unity and pledged to work cooperatively with the committees going forward.
“I recognise that my actions were an error, and I sincerely apologise to the leadership and members of our party in Borno State,” Bolori said. “My priority remains the growth and stability of the ADC.”
Party officials and members have welcomed the apology, describing it as a positive step toward resolving internal differences and strengthening cohesion within the state chapter. Observers note that the controversy had raised concerns about factionalism and organisational stability ahead of future political activities.
The ADC’s transitional and registration committees play a central role in coordinating administrative reforms, harmonising party structures, and expanding the party’s membership base. Analysts say smooth collaboration between party leadership and such committees is critical for effective grassroots mobilisation and electoral readiness.
With the dispute now de-escalating, party sources indicate that efforts are underway to reinforce internal reconciliation and refocus attention on the ADC’s political agenda in the state.
