EKITI POLITICIAN, BIMBO DARAMOLA BATTLES FAMILY OVER PROPOSED MARRIAGE
2 min readEkiti State frontline politician, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, is currently the cynosure of all eyes over his alleged proposed marriage to influential society lady, Sola Salako.
As for those who are acquainted with happenings in town, they would recall that Sola Salako used to be the coordinator of Rev Chris Okotie’s campaign team in his previous presidential bids under Fresh Party.
Highly educated, cerebral, vocal and outspoken, but unfortunately Sola has always been single. She is very close to Okotie especially when his first ex-wife, Tina, separated from him after moving to USA in 2001. Sola was in fact one of the ladies tipped to become the next Mrs. Okotie among her fellow Household of God Church sisters.
However, she, like many other ‘aspiring Mrs. Okoties’ in the church, fell out bitterly with Okotie when the latter married Stephanie dramatically in 2008. By then she had joined the campaign team of Dr. Kayode Fayemi in 2007 for Ekiti guber race.
When JKF was eventually sworn-in in 2010, she moved to Ekiti to assist the Gov in a consultancy capacity. She was the MD of Michael Sarah Ventures, the firm that supplied Samsung mini laptops to Ekiti secondary school students on behalf of Ekiti government. During her stint in Ekiti, her path crossed with that of Hon Bimbo Daramola, the Legislator representing Oye/ Ikole Fed Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Daramola, at 47 now has never been married before, despite his success as a politician, thereby fuelling rumours that something was wrong somewhere with him. But he is now said to be in relationship with Sola Salako and indications are rife that they are planning to settle down.
Now his family are vehemently opposed to the idea. According to them, Sola is too old, or probably older than their son and probably very close to menopause as she was Gov Fayemi senior at University of Lagos and Fayemi is now 49, so they want someone younger for Daramola.
Daramola was the DG of Fayemi’s campaign in the last election that ended in fiasco for the Governor. And it may surprise you to know that Sola Salako referred to Daramola as “Akanni Temi” (my Special one) openly on social media when commenting on the election outcome shortly after they lost.
