Former Plateau State Gov. Joshua Dariye Bags 14 Years Jail Term
1 min readBamidele Fashube, ABUJA, Nigeria (GVE) – After a trial that lasted about eight hours, the FCT High Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja on Tuesday sentenced the former Plateau State Governor, Joshua Dariye to 14 years in prison.
Presiding over the trial, Justice Adebukola Banjoko said the former governor is richer than his state.
Banjoko noted that Dariye as a public servant, entrusted with and having dominion over N1.1billion ecological funds for Plateau state was guilty.
He questioned the manner the cheque was cleared and disbursed contrary to the real intent of the fund.
The Court also found Senator Joshua Dariye guilty of criminal breach of trust as regards N250 million issued to Pinnacle Communications emanating from the state’s Ecological Fund.
Aside from the 14 years jail term for criminal breach of trust, he also got 2 years for misappropriation of public funds.
“There should be no compromise to corruption by whatever shade or colour, rich or poor”, stated.
