The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed social media reports claiming that suspected Boko Haram members were recently arrested in Ilorin, the state capital.
In a statement, the command described the reports circulating online as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary panic among residents.
Police authorities clarified that no such arrest involving Boko Haram suspects was carried out in the state as alleged in the viral posts and messages.
The command urged members of the public to disregard unverified security information and avoid spreading rumours capable of threatening public peace and safety.
According to the police, security agencies in Kwara State remain vigilant and committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
Residents were also advised to rely only on official statements from the police and other recognised security agencies for credible updates on security matters.
The command warned against the deliberate spread of misinformation on social media, noting that false reports could undermine ongoing security efforts.
Police authorities further reassured residents that there is no cause for alarm, while encouraging citizens to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities through official channels.
