The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has confirmed that its presidential and other primary elections will hold nationwide on May 29 despite the Eid-el-Kabir public holidays.

The party said preparations for the primaries have already reached advanced stages, making it difficult to alter the schedule despite concerns over logistics and holiday travel.

NDC officials stated that delegates, party members, and electoral committees across the country have been directed to proceed with arrangements for the exercise as planned.

According to the party, adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible primary election process nationwide.

Some stakeholders had reportedly raised concerns that the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations could affect transportation, attendance, and coordination in several states.

However, the party maintained that postponing the exercise could disrupt its political timetable and preparations ahead of the general elections.

The NDC also appealed to members and aspirants to cooperate with party officials and adhere strictly to electoral guidelines during the primaries.

Party leaders further expressed confidence that the exercise would be conducted peacefully despite the holiday-related challenges across parts of the country.
