The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the submission of presidential and National Assembly candidates for the 2026 general elections to Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
The electoral body said the extension is intended to give political parties additional time to complete and upload the particulars of their candidates through the designated INEC portal.
INEC urged all political parties to take advantage of the new deadline and ensure that all nominations are submitted within the stipulated period, stressing that no further extension may be granted.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a credible, transparent, and timely electoral process, while encouraging political parties to strictly comply with the electoral timetable and guidelines.
