1 min read

The two children of the late Dr. Tiri Gyang, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State, have been released by their abductors after spending 37 days in captivity.

The children, Caleb and Derrick, were kidnapped by terrorists who demanded a ransom of N20m.

Although it is unclear if the exact amount was paid, the terrorists released the younger son, Caleb, and then demanded two motorcycles and N200,000 mobile recharge cards to release the eldest son, Derrick.

The slain lecturer’s remains are expected to be committed to earth following the release of his children.

In a related development, Mallam Garba Funtua, the father of a female student, Aishab Garba, who was kidnapped alongside Gyang’s children, was also held by the hoodlums. Although they released Aishab after collecting a ransom, they later killed Funtua.
