Reps Extend Probe of Airport, Seaport Concessions
Abuja, Nigeria – The House of Representatives has extended its ongoing investigation into airport and seaport concession agreements across the country, broadening the scope of the probe to cover deals executed between 2006 and 2025.
The lawmakers said the move is aimed at reviewing the transparency, legality, and compliance of concession arrangements involving key transportation infrastructure.
According to the House, the investigation seeks to determine whether the agreements were executed in line with due process, national interest, and established regulatory frameworks.
The committee handling the probe is expected to examine relevant documents, engage stakeholders, and assess the economic and operational impact of the concessions on the aviation and maritime sectors.
Lawmakers stressed that the exercise is intended to promote accountability, safeguard public assets, and ensure that concession agreements deliver value to Nigerians.
The House also assured stakeholders that the investigation would be conducted fairly and transparently, with recommendations to be made based on its findings.
The extended probe reflects growing legislative interest in the management of critical national infrastructure and the need to strengthen oversight of public-private partnership arrangements.
