Ondo APC Elders Warn Against Imposition of Candidates
Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have cautioned Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa against imposing candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party leaders urged the governor to ensure wide consultations and adherence to internal democratic processes in selecting candidates, warning that imposition could trigger internal crises and weaken the party’s chances at the polls.
According to the elders, transparency and inclusiveness are essential to maintaining unity within the APC and sustaining public confidence. They emphasized that allowing party members to participate freely in the selection process would promote fairness and credibility.
The group also advised the leadership to prioritize merit and grassroots acceptance in choosing candidates, rather than relying on personal preferences or political influence.
Political observers say the warning reflects growing concerns within the party over internal cohesion as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
