NEVER AGAIN’, APC CAUTIONS NIGERIANS AGAINST VOTING ATIKU IN 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned Nigerians against voting for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 presidential election, saying the country should not return to what it described as the former vice president’s era.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the position known in a statement issued on Thursday. Morka alleged that Atiku’s political career had been associated with controversies surrounding corruption and financial dealings.
The APC referenced several past controversies, including issues surrounding the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project, the Siemens bribery case, the William Jefferson case, the PTDF funds controversy and a 2010 US Senate investigation into suspicious financial transactions.
On the Mambilla project, the APC raised questions about payments examined during an arbitration proceeding involving Sunrise Power and alleged links to Jennifer Douglas, Atiku’s former wife. The party also cited the Siemens case and US court records involving former Congressman William Jefferson.
The ruling party further criticised Atiku over his current position on fuel subsidy, contrasting it with his stance during the 2023 presidential election. The APC argued that a return to fuel subsidies could have significant implications for Nigeria’s finances.
The statement comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election intensify, with Atiku now associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The allegations and criticisms contained in the APC statement represent the position of the ruling party and have been presented as part of its campaign against Atiku.
