Manchester United have submitted a £46million bid for Ajax winger, David Neres, Yahoo Sports Brazil reports.

United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is looking for his third summer signing with the transfer window shutting on August 8.

While the Red Devils are close to completing an £85m deal for Harry Maguire, it seems they also have cash to spend on forward Neres.

However, they have been met with rejection, with Ajax unwilling to sell for anything less than €70m (£64m).

Neres, who guided Ajax to the Dutch Eredivisie title and a Champions League semi-final appearance last season, is under contract until 2022.

The report suggests the 22-year-old had been close to signing a new deal with Ajax, until United showed interest.
