Kidnapped Nasarawa LG Chairman Regains Freedom

Mr. Safiyanu Isah-Andaha, the Chairman of Akwanga Local Area in Nasarawa State, who was abducted by unidentified gunmen on Monday, has been released by his captors.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the release of the chairman and three other victims on Tuesday.

Recall that the local government chairman and three others were abducted by gunmen on New Year Day in Ningo village, Akwanga LGA.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) stated that the chairman and three others were released around 8:45 pm on Tuesday in Andaha village, Akwanga.

The release followed sustained pressure from the combined security agencies’ search and rescue team. Despite reports of a ransom payment, the PPRO denied such claims, emphasizing that no ransom was paid.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, deployed a team immediately upon receiving information, and their collaborative efforts led to the safe and unhurt release of the victims.

After receiving medical attention, the victims will be reunited with their families.
