KATSINA: 40,000 WOMEN TO BENEFIT FROM N8BN EMPOWERMENT FUND

More than 40,000 women in Katsina State are set to receive business capital under the Community Investment Fund of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up.
Vice President Kashim Shettima officially flagged off the disbursement in Katsina on Sunday, saying the initiative was designed to strengthen women’s economic capacity, improve household incomes and promote financial inclusion at the grassroots.
Shettima said the programme was not simply about distributing money but about helping women build stronger and sustainable businesses.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly, maintain proper financial records and continue the savings culture that qualified them for the intervention.
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda said the state had committed N8 billion to the programme, with the initiative expected to reach women across all 34 local government areas.
According to the governor, the funds will provide additional capital for women to establish new businesses, expand existing enterprises and strengthen their income-generating activities.
The programme is being implemented through Women Affinity Groups, which enable participants to save collectively while gaining access to financial and other forms of business support.
The initiative is expected to improve women’s access to finance, support small businesses and strengthen household incomes across Katsina State.
