Juventus Tackles Atletico Madrid Tonight In A Crunch Champions League Tie

2 min read

Juventus takes on Atletico Madrid tonight at the Allianz Arena in a must win encounter if they are to progress to the competition’s quarter final.

Atletico had won the first leg 2-0, which means Juventus face an uphill task as they need to score 3 goals or more against a atletico side that are very good defensively. Atletico has only conceded 17 goals out of 27 matches played in LA Liga, but managed to concede 6 goals in 7 outings in the Uefa Champions League, with most of the goals conceded coming against Borussia Dortmund who thrashed them 4-0 at the Signal Iduna Park.

Juventus would be hoping to draw inspiration from the Dortmund vs Atletico match and would be counting on their star player, the Uefa Champions Lague specialist, Cristiano Ronaldo to get the much needed goals.

Cristiano whose last-gasp penalty for real madrid sent Juventus crashing out at last season’s competition at the quarter final stage, is in no mood to allow them to bow out once again without a fight having already demonstrated his prowess to remarkable effect in Portugal, England and Spain as well as topping the list of all time highest goal scorers in the Uefa Champions League.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, who has scored a staggering 697 goals in 984 games during his career to date, told Juventus TV: “I have no secrets, just my dedication and my passion for this sport, I love to play football more than anything else.

“I’ve enjoyed myself in Portugal, England and Spain and I am now doing so in Italy. For me, it’s a pleasure to score goals and to help my team win. I’m happy.”

“Everyone knows that they are a strong team, they defend very well, they don’t take a lot of risks and they play on the counter-attack, but we are ready, and we will do everything we can to beat them.”

Atletico on the other hand have not lost to an Italian club in 7 years and are in very good form having won their last five games in all competitions.

In other fixture, Manchester City takes on Schalke 04 at Etihad stadium having won the first leg 3-2.
