Jigawa Senator Empowers Constituents With 900 Goats
2 min readThe senator representing Jigawa Southwest senatorial district, Senator Mustapha Khabeeb, has empowered his constituents by distributing 900 goats.
Speaking at the distribution event held at the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Secretariat in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, Senator Khabeeb stated that the initiative is part of his economic empowerment programme aimed at supporting the economic activities of his constituents and improving their sources of income.
The senator, represented by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Zonal Chairman in charge of Jigawa Central, Hon. Idris Ilyasu Danlawan, explained that beneficiaries underwent intensive training on animal husbandry before receiving the goats. The training covered knowledge about the goat species, methods of rearing, and the benefits of goat farming.

Senator Khabeeb noted, “This is in continuation of our determination to improve the sources of income of our people, especially women, who are more vulnerable in the current economic difficulties.”
He further emphasised, “We are determined to improve and enhance the social and economic lives of youths and women, who form the majority of our population. We believe that if we positively impact their lives, we will positively impact the majority of the people we represent.”
The empowerment initiative involves distributing 900 goats to 300 beneficiaries, including both men and women. Each recipient will receive three goats—two female and one male. According to the senator, “This is a special breed of goats that can give birth to a minimum of two offspring every six months. I am confident that in a few months, what you have will multiply.”
Hon. Idris Ilyasu Danlawan added, “This is one of many empowerment initiatives. As you can testify, numerous programs have already been carried out. This effort will continue until everyone benefits, irrespective of their political affiliation, by God’s grace, as long as we are representing them.”
Speaking during the distribution, the PDP State Secretary, Alhaji Isah Gwadayi, commended the senator for the empowerment initiative, describing it as a demonstration of good and effective representation.
Alhaji Isah Gwadayi noted, “The senator and the two other members of the National Assembly’s performance to their constituents are giving the PDP, its leader Alhaji Sule Lamido, and all party members a good image and saving them from any shame.”
He congratulated all the beneficiaries and warned them not to sell the goats but to follow the professional instructions given during the training. He said, “You will see good results. Let me use this opportunity to call on those who have not yet benefitted from the programme to exercise a little patience; it will come to your turn.”
The secretary also called on the people in the state and the country at large to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027, stating that it is the only party that understands the needs of the people, the state, and Nigeria.
