The chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, Samuel Nwanosike, has banned motorcycles from operating at night in the local government area.
The chairman’s directive was contained in a statement by his press secretary, Chris Omodu.
Omodu explained that the ban is to help curb the spread of cult-related activities within the neighbouring Emohua Local Government Area.

According to the statement, the ban takes effect immediately and is effective from 7 pm to 6 am daily.
He also charged security agencies to execute the order with immediate effect and without compromise.
Emohua LGA has been grappling with insecurity and has, since the 2023 general elections, become a den of criminals.
