A former I-G of Police, Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Yusuf, dies at 85 in his Abuja home after a protracted illness, a family source, Alhaji Lamis Dikko, confirms.
( A progressive to the core. An ally and friend of Fela Anikulapo Kuti and his mother , Funmilayo Ransome Kuti. He was of the Aminu Kano school of politics. He was one of the pillars of General Muritala Muhammed.
He head the Police Special Branch in the late 60s. Proff Wole Soyinka will not forget him in a hurry during his incarceration in the civil war era. He later became a dogged fighter for democracy. He was one of the few opposing voice from the North during Abacha era.
