Five Stadiums To Watch Out For In AFCON

The 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is set to be an extraordinary event, featuring six stadiums across five cities in Ivory Coast.

These venues are not just football stadiums; they have been developed or refurbished to provide a world-class experience for players and spectators, aligning with the Confederation of African Football’s emphasis on high-standard facilities.

Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan:

With a seating capacity of 60,000, this is the largest stadium in the country and will play a pivotal role in the tournament, hosting the opening game and final, among other matches.

Stade de la Paix, Bouaké:

 The second-largest stadium, it can accommodate 40,000 spectators. It underwent massive refurbishment, increasing its capacity from 15,000, and is equipped with modern facilities, including a media centre and conference facilities.

Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, Abidjan:

Named after the country’s first Head of State, this stadium can hold up to 33,000 spectators. It’s set to host the tournament for the second time, having previously done so in 1984.

Charles Konan Banny Stadium, Yamoussoukro:

A newly constructed stadium with a capacity of 20,000, it’s part of Yamoussoukro’s magnificent architecture and is equipped with an athletics track and media facilities.

Laurent Pokou Stadium, San Pedro:

Situated in the culturally rich region of Poro, this stadium can also accommodate 20,000 fans. It’s part of the infrastructure legacy for hosting this AFCON.
