Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk has become the first defender to win the PFA player of the year since Chelsea’s John Terry won it 14 years ago.
Van Dijk beat Man City striker, Raheem Sterling to clinch the prize, but the England forward didn’t go home without grabbing the PFA Young Player of the Year Award.
Van Dijk takes over from Mohammed Salah who won it last season, meaning that Liverpool has consecutively won two PFA Awards in two years.
