FG Approves Air Peace, Max, FlyNas For 2024 Hajj Airlift Operations

1 min read

The federal government has granted approval to three airlines, namely Air Peace, Max Air, and Saudi’s FlyNas, to exclusively cater to the 2024 hajj pilgrimage.

Additionally, three air cargo companies—Cargo Zeal Technologies Ltd, Nahco Aviance, and Qualla Investment Limited—have received approval to handle the airfreight of pilgrims’ excess luggage.

This decision, as highlighted in a statement by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), underlines the government’s dedication to ensuring a smooth and secure pilgrimage experience for all participants.

Air Peace is to transport pilgrims from Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, FCT, Imo, Kwara, Ondo and Rivers.

FlyNas is assigned to airlift pilgrims from Borno, Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Niger, Sokoto, Kebbi, Yobe, and Zamfara, while Max Air, with the highest allocation, will transport pilgrims from Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Nasarawa, Adamawa, Oyo, Taraba, Kaduna, Armed Forces, Gombe, Jigawa, and Plateau.

The allocation aligns with the existing Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia for the government quota of pilgrim airlift. States have the option to designate approved freight companies for excess luggage transport, and such decisions should be communicated to the commission.

In a related development, the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, is slated to lead a delegation from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the 2024 hajj pilgrimage today.
